A couple weeks ago I got to take a little roadtrip up to Idaho to do my amazing cousin's engagement photos. I was SO excited to make a trip to one of my favorite places in the world. My grandparents live in a tiny little town in southern Idaho called Malta, and I have the BEST of memories playing with all my cousins around the farm. I've always been drawn to the quietness and openness of the isolated country town. We would play outside in the endless fields as the sun sunk low on the horizon, casting its warm amber glow across the sea of grain waving in the breeze. We would sleep outside in the cool summer night air, listening to the sprinklers watering the fields and gazing up at the infinite number of stars scattered across the inky sky. Some of my most peaceful memories come from this place, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
This is trip was no different. As I pulled into my grandparents' house, I was flooded with memories and feelings. Peace, belonging, family. I remember thinking to myself "man, I love this place." It almost feels like I grew up there. I feel as much at home here as I do anywhere else.
Here's the love story of a farm boy and a country girl.
We went to a location right next to where Abby grew up, a place we'd played as cousins growing up. So many good memories! It's such a diverse and rich place to do photos- I was practically giddy with excitement.
The first time Dallin and Abby hung out together, he taught her how to milk a cow.
Um, adorable. It was all over after that. They quickly became best friends and fell in love.
Something I've always loved about this place is how the golden sunlight grazes across the grass and shrubs in the evening. It's so utterly peaceful and heavenly. Adding in these two lovebirds made it that much dreamier :)
After being practically half raised in this beautiful little farm town, it's no surprise I've always been fascinated with the cowboy lifestyle. There will always be a piece of country inside me :)
And you know... There's something crazy-dreamy-romantic about a country love story. Two hard-working, down-to-earth people epitomizing the American dream and living life authentically decide to spend the rest of their lives together. The rustic setting of a farm just makes a perfect backdrop for any love story. Okay, okay... Maybe I'm biased. But just look at these and tell me you don't want that!
What cowboy wouldn't want a shot with his tractor?? They requested this one specifically, and I was more than happy to oblige!
Abby thinks Dallin's tractor is sexy.
As the sun was setting and scattering yummy golden light, we went into Abby's brother's barley field. It was surprisingly green! I was loving all the cute little dandelions popping up. Once again feeling like a fairytale.
The sun set behind the mountains perfectly. We couldn't have asked for a better evening, or a better place. We walked away knowing we had solid gold.
That night we got a little cousin sleepover- yay! One of the finer things in life, I must say.
